Department of History

The Deparment of History has a long tradition of 35 years. Initially it was a part of Economics department having only subsidiary and intermediate courses.

The department got graduation course in 1981-82. Prof. N.R Kunhikuttan, Prof T.R venugopalan, Prof Walyar Vijayan , Prof. K. Haridasan, Prof. Valsaka, Prof. Sankaran kutty Nar and Dr. A jadeela were the eminent teachers of the department. Since the college iis situated in a remote area in Palakkad district, the students were mainly from poor and backward families. Inspite of economic and social backwardness the pupil secured good and commendable result in previous years.

The department has a well equipped library with 1359 rare collection of books which would satisfy th learning requirements of students in this department as well as other departments. As icing on cake, the department has a museum giving a visual aid for their learning.

There is a good tutorial system, remedial coaching, special attention to weak and differently able students, value oriented teaching, continuous monitoring and evaluation, maintaining a good teacher pupil relation and a good rapport with parents. The department always take proactive measure in ensuring pupil’s participation  in curricular and co curricular activities.

Department Library:

Department has a library with several classical works, It is effectively used for learning. The library is helpful for students in preparing  their topics of their studies. Books related to general topic are also available in this library which helps the students to prepare for various competitive exams. Every year new books are purchased with the fund allotted by the government. Books are issued to the students of these degree classes on fixed days in a week. Reference books are issued on  all days.
