ABOUT  THE  DEPARTMENT

Sanskrit department was established in 1963 for the Second language in BA/B.Sc., BCOM, Electronics and Subsidiary of the Malayalam BA degree course. The department has well equipped and one theory class room. Many renowned personalities were worked as the head of the department in the earlier years. Students scored high marks in their university examinations during the past 60 years. The department used to conduct exhibitions and Workshop in Performing arts in India.  The department is actively interacting with society by conducting various National/International workshop and Seminars with eminent invited speakers from various Research Institutes to get exposure to students at research level. In spite of that department occasionally invites eminent faculties from outside the college to deliver lectures on current aspects of Sanskrit Language. Currently the department has One Permanent & one temporary faculty members actively engaged in different fields such as, Performing arts, Relevance of Sanskrit Language, etc. The department is provided with a library with about 750 books with rare Sanskrit works.

OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION

The course provides only second language of BA/BSC, BCOM, Electronics and subsidiary of Malayalam BA Degree Course. Syllabus of Sanskrit is followed by the OBE pattern under the UGC guidelines. The Sanskrit course in UG enables the students to develop additional skills in the learning process through the Translation which is a part of the syllabus.
