Department of Malayalam

The Department of Malayalam has been a part of Govt. College, Chittur since its establishment with Intermediate course in Malayalam. Later in 1963 the Department started B A Course in Malayalam with Kerala Culture and Sanskrit as Complementary Subjects. The department has a strong bondage with local history and culture, especially with Thunchan Gurumadom, a historic place where the Father of Malayalam Language, Thunchath Ramanujan Ezhuthachan believed to be spent his last years on the bank of the River Sokanashini. 

The department has a separate full fledged building with a dedicated library, reading room, media facilities placed within the scenic natural background.
